In Emma Healey’s darkly riveting novel—a sophisticated psychological mystery that is also an heartbreakingly honest meditation on memory, identity, and aging—an elderly woman descending into dementia embarks on a desperate quest to find the best friend she believes has disappeared, and her search for the truth will go back decades and have shattering consequences.

Elizabeth is Missing’ is both a gripping detective yarn and a haunting depiction of mental illness, but also more poignant and blackly comic than you might expect” (Observer)

The event will feature a reading, a Q&A and a chance to buy the book before it is officially published.

Presented in partnership with Arts & Minds, this event is a must for anyone interested in the depiction of mental health in literature – and for those who want to get advance notice on a book that will top the bestseller lists in 2014.

Emma Healey was selected as one of The Observer’s ‘debut novelists of 2014’ and her book, ‘Elizabeth is Missing‘ was at the centre of a bidding war amongst rival publishers. Emma grew up in London where she completed her first degree in bookbinding (learning how to put books together but not how to write them). She completed the MA in Creative Writing: Prose at UEA in 2011, and Elizabeth is Missing is her first novel.
