Anthony Clavane’s non-fiction, Nick Quantrill’s fiction and Roger Domeneghetti’s history of the football media look at the ways Yorkshire’s sporting identity has been reflected in the arts and media in this panel discussion and audience Q&A, with three very distinguished writers.

Anthony Clavane writes about sport for the Sunday Mirror and is the author of Promised Land, a social history of Leeds United, described as “glorious” by the Guardian and, in 2011 named both Football Book Of The Year and Sports Book Of The Year. His latest book, Does Your Rabbi Know You’re Here? was shortlisted for the 2013 Football Book of the Year. He has had two plays performed in Leeds: Promised Land and Playing The Joker at the West Yorkshire Playhouse. Playing the Joker will tour over 20 northern venues in May and June.

Nick Quantrill was born and raised in Hull. His Joe Geraghty novels are published by Caffeine Nights. A prolific short story writer, Nick’s work has appeared in various volumes of “The Mammoth Book of Best British Crime” and in the match day programme at Hull Kingston Rovers where he held the post of ‘writer in residence’.

Roger Domeneghetti is a freelance writer and the Morning Star’s North East football correspondent.  A journalist for nearly 20 years, he has worked for a range of titles including and the Daily Star Sunday.  He has also lectured in journalism and the sociology of sport at Teesside and Sunderland universities. He lives in Durham with his two daughters and a tortoise. From the Back Page to the Front Room: Football’s Journey Through the English Media is his first book. He tweets @WAATG.
