THIS COURSE OF WORKSHOPS IS NOW FULLY BOOKED but you can book on to a second course starting in the New Year here.

A year of hearing, creating and learning about stories, led by author and theatre producer Daniel Ingram-Brownin association with LCI and the Big Bookend.

Woodcutters in Killingbeck, wolves on Woodhouse Moor and heroes emerging from their back-to-backs.

Join us for a year of learning about, and creating, stories. Each month we will gather for a creative writing workshop, discussion seminar, book group or inspirational outing. This crash course in storytelling will result in the publication of a book of short stories, packed with tales from the Forests of Leeds.

 

 

 


30th September – Why are stories important?

18th November – Writing workshop 1 (based on ideas from Sara Maitland’s ‘Gossip from the Forest’)

20th January – Book discussion – ‘Haroun and the Sea of Stories’ by Salman Rushdie

24th February – The Seven Basic Plots: Why we tell stories (by Christopher Booker)

24th March – Writing workshop 2

14th April – Book discussion – ‘Stardust’ by Neil Gaiman

19th May – Writing workshop 3

30th June – Storytelling time and group meal

All sessions will be from 7-9.30pm at LCI, LS1 6DG (opposite the Corn Exchange, above ‘Out of This World’) and will be led by author and theatre producer, Daniel Ingram-Brown.

No writing experience is necessary, just a willingness to have a go!
