This event includes live music from singer-songwriter duo, Lucy & Jo, and our headlining author, Costa nominated Martyn Bedford, will be talking about his fantastic new book, Never Ending, and answering questions from the audience. The winners of our Review Writing competition  will be announced by Helen Brandom and June Taylor, and their prizes awarded. It’s not too late to enter; the competition deadline has been extended to 16th May.


Martyn Bedford

Martyn Bedford

Martyn Bedford is the author of the two Young Adult novels Flip and Never Ending. His début novel Flip won multiple awards, and was shortlisted for the Costa Children’s Book Award. He is also the author of five books for adults which have been translated into twelve languages, and numerous short stories.

A former journalist, he now teaches on the English and Writing Programme at Leeds Trinity University College and has an MA in Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia. Martyn lives in Ilkley, West Yorkshire with his wife and two daughters. Visit his website:


Helen Brandom

Helen Brandom is a former primary school teacher who has written for the stage as well as TV and radio. Her TV commissions include series episodes for Granada Television, Carlton TV and the BBC. In addition to an original Woman’s Hour serial, her work for Radio 4 includes afternoon plays. Writing in the Sand, Helen’s debut novel published by Usborne publishing, was inspired by realising how many of today’s children are carers.


June Taylor

June Taylor

June Taylor is a writer whose skills extend from script to young adult novels, June has a TV promos background and was runner up in the 2011 Times / Chicken House Fiction Competition with her first YA book, Lovely me, Lovely You. Her first stage play, RSVP, was performed at Preston Tringe in 2012 and Seven Arts. June is on the Board of Script Yorkshire for whom she Tweets and looks after membership.

Also appearing will be Escape Youth Theatre which will be previewing the unique story that they have created as part of the Leeds Story Cycle.
