Suitable for 12 to 15 year olds.

This short story workshop will focus on journeys of transformation through the written word. Through an understanding of the core ingredients to every story, the workshop will analyse the words we as authors choose to describe our characters, the worlds they live in and the challenges that face them.

With the support of the workshop facilitator, Aissa Gallie, you will each begin to write a short story telling the journey of your characters and worlds that inspire them. Once complete, these stories will be published in a pamphlet by the Big Bookend and on their blog.

Aissa Gallie is a writer who found her voice following publication in LS13 – an anthology of the best Leeds writers under 40 published as part of the Big Bookend 2013. Over the past twelve months, Aissa has written prolifically, performed her work at literary events and begun work on her first novel.

Aissa has worked with young people for many years, using her skills as a master practitioner of neurolingusitic programming to evolve an easy-going and fun-filled approach to personal development. Aissa describes herself as a happy philosopher, finding her inspiration for writing in her observations of the connections between human relationships and the places they occur.
