Book Launch. Modern Crimes by Chris Nickson, Thursday 22 September, 7pm at Waterstones, Leeds

Lottie coverHere’s a date for your diaries. Chris Nickson’s latest crime fiction novel, Modern Crimes, will be launched on Thursday 22 September 2016,  7:00pm at Waterstones, Leeds.

Set in 1924, Chris Nickson’s novel Modern Crimes features Lottie Armstrong, one of the first women police constables in Leeds.

Restricted to dealing with women and children, or moving on the prostitutes (“the tart patrol” the men call it), she wants to be a proper copper. Her chance comes with the disappearance of a girl from a home for unwed mothers. Finding the answers takes her from the houses of the rich to the Royal Hotel, where the city’s gays and lesbians meet. Lottie’s bright and has initiative – too much for a woman, some of her superiors think. The trail becomes dark and dangerous – especially for a woman in a man’s world.

This is a free event. All welcome. Note – there WILL be wine!
