SJ Bradley will be in conversation with Wes Brown, author of Shark and contributing editor at Dead Ink, for the book launch of her first novel, Brick Mother. She will also be performing from her novel, followed by an audience Q&A.

Brick Mother is the thrilling literary debut from Leeds author, SJ Bradley. Set in a secure mental health hospital and following those working and living there it is a novel that looks at the dehumanising and alienating powers that institutions have over our lives as well as the motivations behind our own actions. Following Art Therapist, Neriste and Nursing Assistant, Donna the book works towards an eventual and tragic end brought about by the more manipulative and controlling figures within the institution.

SJ Bradley is one of the organisers behind Leeds-based non-profit literary social Fictions of Every Kind. Her short fiction has appeared in various journals and anthologies including our own LS13 where she was recognised as one of the top 20 writers under the age of 40 writing in Leeds. She was shortlisted for the 2013 Willesden International Short Story Prize. She tweets @BradleyBooks.
